The Grade 10 girls' basketball team is competing in the MEI tournament in Abbotsford this weekend. This is a top-notch tournament giving the Cavs a great warm-up for the North Shore Playoffs that start on Thursday. Here is Coach Fraser's report on their overtime loss on Friday afternoon:
The junior girls had their best game of the season today in an exciting match-up against Abbotsford Christian School. ACS is a very skilled and experienced team and started the game with a tight defence and penetrating offence. Our girls were quick and tenacious on defence and on offence moved fast, distributed the ball, and worked it in to the basket.
It was 9-8 for them after one quarter to to 17-16 for us at the half. Tied 29 to 29 after three, and tied 38 – 38 at the end of the game. In overtime, both teams gave their all on defence; we scored once and ACS scored twice and took the game from us 42 – 40.
Our girls played a fantastic game, helping each other on defence and supporting each other on offence. Rachael Chete had 11 points, hitting a 3 just when we needed it. Seli Edstrand and Heather Royle grabbed rebounds and made steals to start the offence. Liz Mathisen had 4 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Sara Ndlovu-Fraser had 20 points, 4 assists, and 10 steals.

Racheal Chete had 11 points yesterday.
