After posting round one wins in the Junior Cav Classic, the Grade 9/10 boys' and girls' basketball teams followed this up with big second round wins as well. The boys beat the Westsyde Whundas, while the girls beat West Van.
In the boys' game, the Cavs battled back from a 15-9 first-quarter deficit to post a 56-46 victory. Kai O'Krane earned Player of the Game honours with 14 points. William Zhang added 13 points, while Arthur Na and Simon Burns kicked in 10 and 8 points respectively. The Cavs now play in the tournament semi-final at 6:00 today.
The girls' game against West Van ended up being a tense affair as the Cavs watched a 10-point 4th quarter lead cut to 3 with 30 seconds to play. West Van had a couple of opportunities to tie the game, but were thwarted by the Cavs' tough defence. Sara Fraser led the way with 14 points for Collingwood.
The girls will now play in the final tomorrow afternoon.
