The Alpine team has returned with yet another BC Championship banner. Here is Coach Ramsden's report on the team's success:

The Alpine Team headed to Sun Peaks March 5 – 7 for three days of exciting competition for the Provincial Championships.

Day one saw Nicole Johnston, our lone snowboard representative, tackle the Snowboard GS course. Nicole has experienced a nagging calf injury this season and has only been on snow 3 days. She raced to an impressive 17th in the GS out of a field of over 40 females.

Day two was the first day of competition for the skiers. The girls and boys crushed their first run of the GS, which set them up well for the second run. Many athletes fell only a few gates in after a huge hole developed on course. Our team showed their aggression and great tactical skills by maneuvering around the hole while still maintaining speed. Both teams felt the pressure going into second run their combined time is what counts towards the final result. Addie Tiller and Morgan Border had commanding performances that moved them up multiple places. Addie Tiller won the bronze medal, Morgan Border came 7th, Jamie Border 13th, Saylor Sprenger 27th, Olivia Tiller 31st and Stella Price 48th. These awesome results were crucial since it the Girls team was now tied for first place in the team standings with our arch rival York House. The boys also showed their moves on the GS course placing 5th in the boys division. Sam Fuller lead the pack with a 9th place finish, Michael Kennedy 31st, Matthew Sayer 37th, Jack Mathisen 38th, Casey Lake 49th, and Kevin Huang went off course in spectacular fashion!

Day three was the final day of competition which saw both skiers and snowboarders take on the Terrain GS course. It was one run timed for each athlete and would be combined with the GS the day before for overall awards. Both the girls and boys team were fired up and ready to take on the flat but technical terrain gs course! The girls gave it their all to try to win the banner for a second year in a row. Morgan Border put up the fastest time for the team placing 4th for the second consecutive year. Addie Tiller also put in a strong finish at 5th. Jamie Border made an unbelievable one footed recovery to come 14th. Saylor Sprenger came 25th and Stella Price 47th. Olivia Tiller ahd one of the best starts of the day but came a little too close to the gate and ended up crashing and losing her ski. The girls gave it their all and ended up second overall by only 3 points!

The Boys also brought their A game to the Terrain GS. Sam Fuller found redemption after BC Winter Games and placed 8th, Jack Mathisen 19th, Michael Kennedy 30th, Matthew Sayer 38th, and Casey Lake 43rd. The boys were able to hold on to their 5th place team finish.

Nicole Johnston captured 12th on the Terrain GS after an explosive start and very clean run.

For the third consecutive year the girls and boys ski team won the combined banner! They worked very hard all season and are very deserving. They left the competition happy with their results but already setting goals and plans for next year!

The team celebrates its BC Championship.
