The Grade 9 girls' basketball team marched to their second straight victory over the STA Fighting Saints on Tuesday evening. This team has enormous potential and is already playing some superb basketball this season under Coaches Burnett and Fraser. Here is Coach Fraser's game report:
The Grade 9 girls met STA again last night and STA were determined to avenge their tournament loss. STA came out focused, defending well, and shooting 6 for 6 in the first quarter; Collingwood was the opposite, shooting 4 for 11 in the first and turning the ball over so often that even their imperturbable coaches Burnett and Fraser were getting agitated.
In the second half, the girls battled back with hard work and tied it up at the end of 3. In the 4th quarter everything fell into place and the girls out-ran, out-rebounded, and out-scored STA to take the game 43 – 33. Rachael Chete had a standout night. She battled on the boards when things weren't going well to give us many second chances, scored 10 points, and defended against their best player, shutting her out in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
