Congratulations to 2014 Collingwood grad Madison Mailey on being named to the Canadian U-23 Rowing Team. Madison is currently rowing at Northeastern University in Boston. Here is the press release from Northeastern:

BOSTON – Madison Mailey, a rising senior on the Northeastern women's rowing team, has been named to Rowing Canada's Under-23 National Team. Mailey will compete in the eights at the championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria beginning on July 19.

Mailey (Lions Bay, British Columbia), rowing out of Burnaby Lake Rowing Club, will be competing with Caileigh Filmer, Stephanie Grauer, Payne, Morgan Rosts, Antonia Frappell, Julia Vander Hoeven, Laura Court and Karen Lefsrud.

"Madison developed great technique under Cinda Ewton at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club where she spent most of her developmental years as a sculler," said head coach Joe Wilhelm.

"In the past three years, she has worked hard to refine her sweep technique, improve her fitness, and add power to her stroke. Madison won our Outstanding Competitor Award this year due to her passion and grit on the race course. I am sure racing for Canada will bring the best out of her this summer and I am looking forward to watching her compete in Plovdiv."

Mailey stroked the first varsity boat throughout the 2017 season, helping the crew capture its fourth straight CAA Championship with a victory in the 1V to advance to the NCAA Championships. At nationals, the first varsity took fifth place in the 'C' level final to finish the season 17th in the nation. The crew also captured the silver medal at the Eastern Sprints.

During the spring season, Mailey collected All-CAA and First Team All-CRCA accolades.
