The senior field hockey team lost 2-1 to arch-rival Crofton House in the ISA Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Cavs battled hard throughout the game, but CHS was a little better on the day.
There is no doubt that Collingwood and CHS are two of the top contenders for the BC title this year. Both teams are loaded with talent and almost all the starters for both squads played in the BC Championship game last year. Of course, it was Cavs that won that game 2-1 in a classic Collingwood-CHS nail-biter.
In pool-play at the ISA's, the Cavs defeated St. Michaels University School (SMUS) 4-2, Brentwood 6-0 and the Shawnigan Lake 'B' team 3-0. The win over SMUS was particularly noteworthy as the Blue Jags are also one of the top AA teams in BC this year.
Coaches Gold, Bruner and Underwood are very pleased with the team's progress so far this year. Despite the loss this weekend, they feel the team is coming together well and will learn from the mistakes they made when put under pressure in this tournament. The Cavs are back in action on Tuesday against Seycove.
