The senior rugby team defeated Magee 50-0 yesterday to open their Vancouver Sea-To-Sky league schedule. After two solid wins in exhibition play, the Cavs stepped up their game against a Magee side that featured players from three other West-Side schools.
As has happened in Collingwood’s two other games this year, Tanner Jackson opened the scoring with a try in the left-hand corner after some good ball movement by the backline. Presley Bosa then took over the game with two terrific tries, one of which featured a 70-metre ‘bollocking’ run after receiving a Magee kick-off.
Tanner followed this up with his second try of the game. Max Price then got into the action right before halftime. With Max’s three conversions, the Cavs led 31-0 at the break.
In the second half, Ryder Kanewske used his size and speed to score a long-range try. Jack Farrar then scored on a nice pick and go near the goal-line. Finally, Max scored again to round out the scoring.
It was a very good team effort with everyone contributing. Special mention must go to James Foote who once again was at the forefront of the Cavs forward attack.
