One of the most special games each season in Collingwood basketball is Senior's Night. Coach McLaughlin always makes sure this is a truly amazing event for the senior girls' team. However, it is the team that makes the real difference as the Cavs alway step up on this night and play with extra intensity to assure the senior's last league game at home is a win.
This was definitely the case yesterday when the Cavs battled Seycove for second place in the North Shore AA league. Collingwood came out of the gates fast and caused the Seahawks enormous issues with their press. A litany of Seycove turnovers led to easy baskets for the Cavs.
It was a tight game until the third quarter when Collingwood blew the game open. The entire team played well and the four seniors were on the court in the final seconds to celebrate a 66-46 victory.
Halle Anderson, Rio Donovan, Mo Kelly and Tori Punter all played a key role in the big win. Right after the game, they were feted in outstanding style with speeches, flowers and a framed photo for each of them.
