School sports are back and Collingwood's teams were quick to take to the field/court last week.  It is impossible to adequately describe the joy felt by athletes, coaches and fans as the Cavs played games across the North Shore and in Victoria during the past seven days.  It's simply fantastic for our teams and athletes to be back in action.

Mo Kelly is the only returning starter from the senior field hockey 2019-20 BC AA Championship squad.  The field hockey team has already played three top-class AAA teams in North Shore league action.  No wins so far, but these tough games are perfect to get them ready for the BC AA Championships in November.

The senior soccer team played in the ISA Championships last weekend at SMUS in Victoria.  The team lost two games in penalty shoot-outs and unfortunately lost their first league game yesterday also in a shoot-out.  Penalty shot practice is going to be be front and centre this afternoon at training.

The Grade 9 rugby team is off to an amazing start to their season.  They won an exhibition game against St. George's in a resounding fashion and then won the ISA Grade 9 7's tournament yesterday.  This is a powerhouse squad that has it all.  Their speed, toughness, skill and rugby smarts will make them hard to beat this year.

And speaking of Cavs being back, Madison Mailey dropped by the school last Friday with her Olympic Gold Medal! Madison graduated in 2014 and was part of Canada's epic win in Tokyo by the Women's Eight in rowing.  Here is Madison with one of her old Collingwood rowing coaches, Chris Jacoby.
