Associate Faculty Positions at Collingwood Wentworth Campus

Collingwood is a large independent co-educational school situated on two campuses in beautiful West Vancouver, BC.  Applications are invited for a number of Associate Faculty positions at Collingwood School, Wentworth campus (K - grade 7). We have openings in classes from kindergarten to grade seven.

Depending on the grade, the job of the Associate Faculty is to support students in the classroom on a one-on-one basis, in groups, and whole class situations. There will also be opportunities to class teach and team teach.  Our AF also supervises students at recess, before and after-school care, and perform many tasks around the school.  The AF program provides a wonderful stepping-stone into the teaching world and provides a positive year working with experienced teachers and other AF. The positions begin at the end of August 2016 and end June 30th 2017, there is also the possibility of returning for a second year.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated, qualified teachers, and would welcome applications from graduate students.

It would be an advantage to have taken ECE courses, French or play the piano but all applications are welcome.

The positions begin at the end of August 26, 2016 and end June 30, 2017

Teacher-Librarian 1.0 FTE

Collingwood School, a progressive co-ed independent day school in beautiful West Vancouver, is seeking a full-time Teacher-Librarian working with the upper primary and intermediate division for a one-year temporary contract commencing in September, 2016. 

Responsibilities will include: 

• Collaborating with classroom teachers to develop and teach curriculum that fosters active, inquiry-based learning

• Maintaining, cataloguing and updating Wentworth Library collection, website and e-library

• Ensuring that students and staff can access, evaluate and use information from a variety of sources

• Organizing events and speakers that pertain to library and the 3-5 curriculum

The successful candidate will be an experienced, flexible, technologically proficient, dynamic, collaborative, and inspirational educator and will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.

The following assets and qualifications are desirable:

• B.Ed in elementary education with strong literacy and/or English background

• Library/Media Specialist training highly valued

• Teaching experience in upper primary/intermediate grades  

• In depth knowledge of Reading and Writing Power philosophy and programme as well as grades 3-5 L.A., science and socials new curriculum for British Columbia

• Knowledge of and ability to teach the research process and library processes related to the acquisition organization and retrieval of print and digital information

• Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and relationship skills.

• Excellent oral, written, communication and presentation skills

• Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community

Collingwood School, the largest co-educational independent day school in Canada, is seeking a full time Math or Science Teacher Intern/TOC. The position will start August 26nd 2016 and end June 30th 2017. As a recent graduate from the Faculty of Education, teacher interns will have the opportunity to gain real school and classroom experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily TOC coverage of classes, while working with and being mentored by, talented educators in either the Middle or Senior School. Teacher interns are connected to a department, and will have the opportunity to receive mentorship in their teaching area.

All applicants must have an academic background that includes an undergraduate degree with a major in Math or Science, combined with teaching certification that includes the intermediate and senior divisions. The successful candidate will be immersed in all facets of the school community and will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school. Candidates with experience and qualifications in coaching [and other co-curricular activities] will be given special consideration.

Associate Director, Advancement

The Associate Director helps shape and direct all aspects of the Advancement function at Collingwood with a particular focus on major gifts.  The Associate Director has a full understanding of the Advancement operation and deputizes for the Executive Director from time to time.
 

Position Function:

Responsible for administering fundraising programs, including research, developing strategy, preparing proposals, stewardship and moving fundraising accounts through the donor cycle and raising a minimum of $2M annually.  Responsible for supporting development related activities of senior administration by managing complex relationship with stakeholders. Participates in comprehensive plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gift prospects and donors.  Assists in developing strategies for closing gifts and broad-based appeals.z
 

Particular responsibilities will include:

  • Works in partnership with senior management to facilitate maximum fundraising support;
  • Implements a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors; 
  • Develops and implements strategies for keeping alumni connected;
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of major gift prospects making face-to-face visits for the purpose of discovery, cultivation and solicitation strategies for major gifts;
  • Develops proposals and broad based direct response campaigns to generate gifts for priority projects and endowment fundraising;
  • Makes solicitations for planned gifts. Recruits past parents and grandparents as champions and financial supporters of the School;
  • Develops and implements an approach each year for Collingwood’s Annual Campaign, the Tartan Fund;
  • Ensures that appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship programs are in place;
  • Generates donor/prospect materials and correspondence;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
     

Skills: 

Ability to work independently while exercising good judgement at all times.  Computer experience required; MS Windows environment, Microsoft Office preferred.  Raiser’s Edge experience advantageous.

Ability to plan, co-ordinate and supervise the work of others, execute a variety of complex projects, and meet imposed deadlines. 

Strong verbal and written communication skills, both verbal and written, having the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with donors, co-workers and other departments.

Collingwood is Canada’s largest co-educational day school with 1,250 students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school is situated in beautiful West Vancouver on two campuses, Wentworth (JK-7) and Morven (8-12). Collingwood School is a vibrant and student centered learning community that celebrates and supports a four stranded education, focusing on Academics, Athletics, Arts and Service. The School is seeking a physical education specialist with experience teaching and coaching young children to work at our elementary JK-7 Campus. The contract is a temporary leave contract beginning August 25th 2016  and ending June 30, 2017. 

The successful candidate must have a PE or Human Kinetics degree, with a strong coaching pedigree and must be willing and eager to support and contribute to our vibrant athletic program.
