The senior boys' basketball team defeated Elphinstone for the second time in less than a week to capture the Cav Classic yesterday evening. It was a great team win as the Cavs used their lethal three-point shooting to great effect as usual, but were also able to score inside the paint as well. This was too much for an Elphistone team that was missing their top player in the final. Tariq Alibhai and Imraan Karmali were named tournament All-Stars, while Lochlan Collins took home the MVP award.
In the girls' final, the Cavs lost a tight battle to a talented Argyle side. Argyle is a very complete AAA team with outstanding guards and a terrific post player. However, Collingwood gave the Pipers everything they could handle. The second half saw multiple lead changes as Collingwood fought hard with Coach McLaughlin using her bench constantly to keep everyone on the floor fresh. In the end, the Cavs fell just short, but it was a terrific performance. Izzy Fry and Keira McCord were named tournament All-Stars.
Lochlan Collins was the MVP of the Cav Classic.
