Once again this year, Collingwood was one of the co-hosts of the North Shore's biggest basketball event - The No Regrets Tournament. 24 teams from across Western Canada and Australia participated this year. Collingwood once again hosted the boys' and girls' finals on Saturday evening.
For the first time, our girls' team also played in the tournament. The team opened with a convincing 66-54 Archbishop MacDonald from Alberta. They then lost 54- 62 to Aden Bowman from Saskatchewan on Friday. However the the Cavs bounced back with a thrilling 57-55 win over Barker College from Sydney, Australia on Saturday afternoon. Muneet Gill sank two free throws with no time left on the clock to give the Cavs the win.
The boys opened the tournament with a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Rutland Voodoos. Collingwood rallied from a double-digit deficit to tie the game with 4.3 seconds left. However, the Cavs ran out of steam in overtime and fell 80-87.
Collingwood would then post two consecutive wins. They defeated St. Thomas More 54-39 and GP Vanier 77-67. They would finish the tournament with a thrilling game against Salmon Arm. The Cavs had three good chances to win the game late, but lost 61-63.
Kayleigh 'KG' Garland was named a tournament All-Star.
Riley Arborgast knocked down 14 three-pointers in the Cavs' final three games of the tournament.
Muneet Gill nailed two free throws with no time left on the clock to give the Cavs a third-place finish in the prestigious No Regrets tournament.
