The Grade 8 girls' basketball team is on a roll. Following up on their 3rd place finish at the CapU tournament, the team has won two games this week against North Shore opposition. Here is a game report from Coach Mulock on yesterday's big win over Seycove:
The Grade 8 Girls Basketball team played their second game of the season yesterday against Seycove Secondary School. The Cavaliers started the game on a 10-0 run with Nina Winckler and Kiana Shahbazi pushing the ball up the floor and getting lay ups in transition.
The Cavs worked together as a team offensively and kept their lead by moving the ball around and using each other to get easy lay ups. Defensively the Cavs played great pressure defense and forced Seycove to turn the ball over a number times leading to uncontested transition lay ups.
Nina Winckler was the high scorer for the Cavs with 11 points and Luca Fukuyo and Kiana Shahbazi both had 5 points respectively. The final score was 34-24 for the Cavaliers.
The Cavs play again next Tuesday against Argyle in the Yassin Gym at Collingwood at 4pm. The coaches are excited and looking forward to a great season with the girls!
