The senior field hockey team pushed their league record to 2-0 with a 4-2 win yesterday over the West Van Highlanders. The Cavs now sit on top of the North Shore Premier Division, which features some of the best AA and AAA teams in the province.
Seli Edstrand and Hailey Gayda scored two goals each in the victory. Seli scored the opening goal of the game, before Hailey added to the lead with a deft deflection. Seli pushed the lead to 3-0 before half.
The Highlanders roared back into the game with two goals, but Hailey's second goal sealed the deal for the Cavs. Coaches Gold, Underwood and Bruner were very pleased with the win, especially as the team had five players sitting out with injuries.
The team heads to Victoria tomorrow for the three-day Bridgman Cup. This will give them a chance to see the best teams from the Island and the Lower Mainland.
