Collingwood had 14 racers at the BC Swimming Championships last weekend. The team did very well and Coach Yoon was very happy with the results. Coach Yoon deserves a big thank you as he stepped into the swim coach/manager position this year. Here is his report:
The Collingwood swim team wrapped up the 2017 season after a successful finish at the BC championships last weekend in Richmond.
At provincials, swimmers had to qualify for the finals by placing in the top 16 during the preliminary round events. After the first day of competition, all 12 Collingwood swimmers were able to advance to at least one finals event.
Grade 12 student, Hannah Philpotts was able to capture the silver medal in the 50 meter breaststroke event and the senior girls finished 6th overall in the AA standings out of 29 schools. The senior boys finished 10th overall out of 21 schools. A special thank you goes to Barb Ferreira for all her help in coaching the swim team this past season.
