The Grade 9 volleyball team has been playing terrific volleyball all year long. They travelled to Meadowridge last Friday for the ISA Tier 2 Junior Championships. This tournament attracts Grade 9/10 teams from the smaller ISA schools and Grade 9 squads from the bigger ISA schools. Coaches Lussier and Chow have combined on this report:
The Grade 9 girls were at Meadowridge School last Friday for the ISA tier 2 tournament. After a bit of a slow start, they finally came together to play some excellent volleyball and climbed on the podium to win the Bronze medal. The team played a well-rounded defense and managed to generate very productive offense sequences at the net. Highlights of the day were certainly Sophia Garofalo's strong serves that were building extraordinary momentum for our team, as well as the duo Stella Guernsey and Sky George teaming up to be an intimidating wall for the other teams when they were up at the bloc.
The team is off to its last league game tonight at Rockridge at 4:00. The girls have already assured themselves a first round playoff game, but they are hoping to secure a third-place in the Western Division, which could make their journey a little easier moving forward. Coaches Lussier and Chow are extremely proud of the way the team is coming together this year and believe they can make it deep into the playoff season. Well done ladies!
