As usual, the senior field hockey players and coaches have elected to give up a huge portion of their Thanksgiving weekend to play in the prestigious Bridgman Cup Tournament in Victoria. The Bridgman brings together all the best teams in BC and Collingwood uses this as an important stepping stone to provincial success later in the season.

The Cavs defeated Mount Doug of Victoria 1-0 this morning. Kelsie Stephenson scored the winner partway through the first half on a beautiful backhand. Elsa Hunter was 'awesome' in net according to Coach Catherine Underwood.

Collingwood needs tough games like these as they have dominated North Shore AA league play so far. The team defeated Rockridge 7-0 and Seycove 8-0. In the Rockridge game, Hailey Gayda scored five goals. Hailey is brand new to field hockey but was an accomplished ice hockey player and obviously she is a natural scorer whether on ice or turf.

In the Seycove game, Hailey scored three more goals and was joined on the scoresheet by Chloe Szybunka and Bronwyn Bird who had two goals each.

Devon Litherland is one of the Cavs' talented young rookies this year.
