The senior rugby team played some very tough opposition on their recent Australia rugby tour so it is no surprise that the team opened league play with a convincing 45-12 victory over the Tupper Tigers. Although the Cavs were not as sharp as their coaches would have liked, the team had more than enough firepower to defeat Tupper.

Collingwood was quick to go on the attack right from the opening kick-off but a series of handling errors inside the Tupper 22m line prevented them from scoring on three different occasions inside the first 10 minutes. Finally, Tyler Preston bashed over on a #8 pick-up and Collingwood had a 7-0 lead after the Cam Bird conversion.

Cole Young followed this up with a great try that came off some fantastic handling from both forwards and backs. Duncan Bustos added the conversion on this try and the Cavs were up 14-0. Cam Bruk scored at the 20-minute mark again after some great teamwork and the rout was on. When Carter Proc added another try before halftime, Collingwood went into the break with a 26-0 lead.

The Cavs quickly padded their lead with two intercept tries in the first 10 minutes of play. Carter and Cam both scored their second tries of the game. Cam Bird converted both of these. Collingwood's final try came when Tyler went over for his second tally of the day.

The Cavs now play Brentwood College this Friday at 4:00. This game is part of the BC High School Rugby Stadium Series so it is am important ranking game for the team.

Cam Bird has been playing great rugby for the Cavs at both scrum-half and fullback.
