The junior field hockey team defeated the West Van Highlanders 3-0 to vault into 3rd place on the last day of league play. This all-important win means that the Cavs will avoid the Handsworth Royals juggernaut in the North Shore semi-finals. Here is Coach Erin French's game report:
The Junior Girls leap-frogged Rockridge this Wednesday, into 3rd place overall with a commanding 3-0 win against West Van. The girls came to play and by all accounts played their most complete game this season – they wanted to win. With lots of talk on the field, passes were crisp and girls moved to space. It's hard to name only a few stand-outs as so many girls had a strong game. However, Devon Litherland, Olivia MacKenzie, McKinley Kennedy, Seli Estrand were definitely on top of their game. We cannot forget Olivia Heubner who had a beautiful tap in at the post. Stella Guernsey was outstanding as usual in net and recorded the shut-out.
The girls have their semi-final this Tuesday, also against West Van, at William Griffin at 3:00pm.
