The senior field hockey team has picked up where they left off last season and is already playing some great hockey. The team opened their season with two resounding victories and one tough-fought tie today.
In their opening match, the Cavs defeated Little Flower Academy 5-1. Maddie Connell scored four goals and Bronwyn Bird added another. Collingwood scored five more goals in a shut-out win over Chilliwack. Maddie popped in two more goals as did Holly Robertshaw, while Charlotte Campbell chipped in another.
In their final game of the day, the Cavs faced a gritty Kelowna squad. After a slow start, the team picked up the pace and were unlucky not to score. Their best opportunity came when Charlotte just narrowly missed on a great re-direction of a shot from Maddie.
Collingwood now faces Handsworth tomorrow morning at 9:15am at Crofton.
Maddie Connell opened the season with a four-goal game.
