Collingwood School, a progressive co-ed independent day school in beautiful West Vancouver, is seeking a full-time Teacher-Librarian working with the upper primary and intermediate division for a one-year temporary contract commencing in September, 2016.
Responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to develop and teach curriculum that fosters active, inquiry-based learning
• Maintaining, cataloguing and updating Wentworth Library collection, website and e-library
• Ensuring that students and staff can access, evaluate and use information from a variety of sources
• Organizing events and speakers that pertain to library and the 3-5 curriculum
The successful candidate will be an experienced, flexible, technologically proficient, dynamic, collaborative, and inspirational educator and will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.
The following assets and qualifications are desirable:
• B.Ed in elementary education with strong literacy and/or English background
• Library/Media Specialist training highly valued
• Teaching experience in upper primary/intermediate grades
• In depth knowledge of Reading and Writing Power philosophy and programme as well as grades 3-5 L.A., science and socials new curriculum for British Columbia
• Knowledge of and ability to teach the research process and library processes related to the acquisition organization and retrieval of print and digital information
• Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Excellent oral, written, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and the community
