After a brief hiatus last week, Athletes Of The Week is back to celebrate some amazing performances throughout the North Shore and BC Championships that have recently been played.
Bella Connell - Senior Field Hockey
Bella is one half of the dynamic Connell duo. She was one of the team's top midfielders all season long and she was terrific at the recent BC Championships. Bella always exudes 'great positive energy on the field' and the best is yet to come from her as she is back for two more seasons.
Katie Connell - Senior Field Hockey
One Connell is amazing, but when you add Katie to the equation, it just becomes unfair to other teams. Katie constantly scored key goals throughout the season and was so versatile that she could dominate games as a forward or a midfielder. The Collingwood coaching staff can't wait to work with her again next season as she's only going to get better.
Nina Kovacevic - Senior Volleyball
Nina has simply been in devastating form over the past two weeks. The senior volleyball team has upset Elphinstone, STA and St. Pat's on their way to a place in the Vancouver Sea To Sky quarterfinals and Nina has been front and centre throughout this amazing run. She is hitting with incredible power and her serve has been simply outstanding.
James Tiardi - Grade 9 Rugby
James was one of many Grade 9 rugby stars that led the squad to an undefeated season. His evasive running and hard-tackling make him a powerhouse centre. With the undefeated season on the line against St. Michaels, James made another of his trademark runs and sliced through the Blue Jags defence before reaching out just far enough to dot the ball down on the line for the game winning try.
