Elise Miller was Collingwood's sole participant in the BC Cross-Country Championships yesterday at Jericho Park. Here is a report from Coach Katie Field:
Elise Miller attended her first XC Provincials this morning at Jericho. As a Grade 8 student, she was racing against Grade 8, 9 and 10 students in the Junior Girls category.
Elise was understandably nervous before the race as the sole student who qualified from Collingwood, but once the gun went off, she took off and had an amazing (and muddy) race. She ultimately placed 103 out of 240 students, and she was the 19th Grade 8 to cross the finish line. This is an amazing achievement!
Her speed (4.5min/km) was her same speed as it was at Zones the previous week, while the winner from Zones and the consistent winner from the League races was slightly slower, so she edged closer to them. Great work, Elise.
