From February 14 to 16t, twelve Collingwood students participated at the Vancouver Model United Nations (VMUN), one of Canada’s premier educational simulations and the largest high school student-organized Model United Nations conference in North America.
A highlight of this conference was the speech of Dr. David Suzuki, a Canadian academic, science broadcaster and environmental activist who has made his life’s work to help humanity understand, appreciate, respect and protect nature.
Collingwood delegates were immersed in a thriving fast-paced environment, thinking critically, collaborating with others, working to create practical and dynamic solutions while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, Canadian healthcare system, Labour Trafficking and more. Collingwood had a presence in 4 Committees: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), House of Commons ( HOC), Advanced Crisis Committee (ACC) and Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM).
