The cricket team capped off a successful season by winning the Lower Mainland Championship in very convincing fashion. Here is Coach Diaz's report:
The Collingwood cricket team became the 2019 Lower Mainland Cricket Champions when they defeated Moscrop Secondary in the Finals yesterday. This is only the third time in Collingwood Cricket history that the Cavaliers take the top spot.
It was a hard fought final game against a very capable Moscrop team who managed to wicket our top three batters early in the game. Despite this, the rest of the Cavaliers' squad managed to produce enough runs to outscore Moscrop 93 to 92 in only 12 of the allowed 16 innings.
It was a convincing victory and an emotional win for our players, their families, and their happy coaches. Every athlete played an important role in the win and we wish to acknowledge some outstanding performances.
Benjamin Wrixon scored 19 runs, Brent Anderson scored 12 runs and Tariq Kevshavi contributed 15 runs including a 6 point hit over the boundary which was the biggest hit of the match. There were also extraordinary performances in fielding and bowling by Kris Suri, Michael Kennedy, Brent Anderson and Ben Wrixon who collectively took a number of wickets and managed to minimize the amount of runs scored by Moscrop.
Bravo Collingwood!
